Not to say the haters haven't been shitty also, it's just crazy how much the fan base defends this game lol That shouldn't take away from the fans enjoyment but the attitude the fan base has had around this game has been really defensive and shitty about any differing opinions. It's not just the start either, the whole story of part 2 just doesn't click with me and a lot of people agree. I've followed the story through, this story is the one that plummeted the hardest for me. That's not an uncommon thing to happen but out of all the books, comics, manga, movies, TV shows, games, etc. I'm really interested to see how the HBO show handles this because I really don't think it's gonna be done like it was I the game, if it is, I won't be surprised if a lot of the audience just drops off, and loses interest. This isn't really an ensemble story, the main story was about 2 characters. There's stories that work well like this, presenting a character as the bad guy, and bringing them from antagonist, to protagonist, or having them become a more central role to the story, but its nearly always down with an ensemble cast. It's like this series skipped act 2 in a 3 act tale. The flashbacks come off as very forced to me. The story that's being told for us to get to know her and build a relationship with, is already at the end of the story. If they did make a part 1.5 basically, it would make it much easier to empathize with Abby and her friends. This isn't just a "oh you killed my favorite character, I hate you." POV, I understand the point of the story and like I said, I think it would've worked better as a part 3. How would that destroy the point of the game? My reasoning behind this stance is there isn't enough time spent with Abby and the Salt Lake Crew to make me actually care about what their story is, and starting it out in the negative just doesnt make sense to me. If you don't like part 2, might as well keep it to yourself lol Part 2 has the most loyal fan base I've ever seen, the denial that the game will have people that don't like part 2 for valid reasons is what gets me the most. Both of us aren't rabid fan boys, so we've been able to actually talk about it at length multiple times because of how interesting it is to discuss our different views, he's seriously the only person that loves part 2 that I've been able to share my point of view with that doesn't react like I'm personally insulting him. I have a close friend that holds part 2 as their favorite game of all time, and for a long time, part 1 was my favorite game. It seems like there's a ton of people that make liking part 2 a part of their personality and get really sensitive about others not sharing their opinion. Part 2 would've worked better as a part 3, with part 2 being split between time with Ellie and Abby leading up to the events that take place in the part 2 that we got. It's pacing is bad, it was set up very poorly in my opinion. I've tried having a discussion about my stance on the game multiple times on reddit, and I always get blasted with the same brigade of downvoters. I've started part 2 three times now and finished it twice.
